Fool’s Gold-By Natalie Renee
My nana taught my 5-6 year old Sunday School class. She started every lesson the same way: by singing this little song called “Shoo, Devil, Don’t Bother Me.” We finished the song by slamming the door to say that we were going to focus on God and not let the enemy near us.
At the heart of this song is that same message. It’s a song of me getting totally fed-up with the cycle of fighting the enemy until finally I just spin on my heel and say, “No. I won’t fall for your Fool’s Gold.” Instead, I will strive to set my mind on what really matters, like worshiping Jesus and loving those around me.
The things the world values are just like Fool’s Gold. It’s worthless. Just like people sometimes confuse pyrite with gold, the enemy wants to trick us into believing that certain things aren’t sin.
These are lies.
So the question we must ask ourselves is would we rather be rich from pyrite or rich from gold? Would we rather be rich on this side of eternity or have a mansion in Heaven?
It’s our choice.
Beautiful song and beautiful person singing her songs.
Thank you so much!!
