9 Christian Authors You’ll Love
There’s just something special about Christian fiction, and there’s something special about Christian authors. Some write books full of allegory. Others, just pen good stories that have a “thank you, Jesus” in the acknowledgments. Either way, there’s just a little bit more light and truth in books that come from an author seeking to glorify the Lord with their writing. And I love it!!
I fell in love with books in 3rd grade after reading a book about a girl on the run while wearing the Good News Shoes (Thanks Jill Osborne!). I realized the other day that I have all of these Christian authors that I LOVE, and you may not know about any of them! I decided it was time to fix that. 😉
9 Christian Authors You’ll Love
1. Nadine Brandes: If I absolutely just had to pick a favorite author, she’d be up there. Her Out of Time trilogy was the first Christian dystopian I ever read. It kind of blew my mind. Like, wait, books like this exist? She then went through a historical fantasy phase (Fawkes, Romanov). These are fantastic, too. Even my brother gave his stamp of approval on Fawkes. Her latest release is Wishtress. The allegory in this one is SO good! Her newest book, The Nightmare Virus is coming out soon. I got to read an ARC and she did not disappoint!
2. Jill Osborne: If you have middle graders in your life, you have to get one of her books in their hands! As I said, Riley Mae and the Rock Shocker Trek was one of the most influential books I read at that age. She also has a new series geared more for middle grade boys.
3. Kara Swanson: Peter Pan retellings! And stories that don’t hide from the dark, but instead show how light shines in even the darkest places. Dust got me out of a reading slump in Covid.
4. Jill Williamson: I’ve only read her Blood of Kings trilogy. Her main character takes a lot of inspiration from the Biblical David, strengths and weakness. A great trilogy, especially for Lord of the Rings fans.
5. CJ Redwine: Fairytale retellings are her thing with a new venture into fantasy. The Christian themes are more subtle in her books but she never fails to thank Jesus in the acknowledgements for guiding her through the writing process.
6. Lindsay A. Franklin: Art is power in her Weaver trilogy. She also contributes to one of my favorite devotionals.
7. Lorie Langdon: I haven’t read her Doon series, but I definitely enjoyed Olivia Twist. Her Christian themes are more subtle.
8. Carla Laureano: I honestly need to go back and reread Oath of the Brotherhood. I remember it having a bit of a slow start and then I loved the rest of the book. Definitely check this one out if you like Blood of Kings.
9. Isabel Ibañez: I really liked Woven in Moonlight (beware some of the romances in her other books have a bit more almost-spice). She did a fantastic job weaving her culture and heritage into this book. I also love how she’s another author that doesn’t leave her faith out of her acknowledgements.
These are just a few of my favorites. I could keep going! So, have you read any of these? What are your favorite Christian authors?
Thank you so much for these authors!! I am literally ALWAYS needing more books to read (I’m homeschooled), especially (*clean*) Christian fiction. This was super helpful!
Hi Willow! I’m so glad I was able to recommend you to these fantastic authors! It can be so hard to find good books that are in line with our Christian world view. I know the struggle! Also, one thing I didn’t mention in this article, is there’s actually a whole publishing house dedicated to Christian fantasy/sci-fi. It’s called Enclave Publishing. If you run out of books from these authors, try there next! If you’re ever in need of more recommendations, just shoot me an email. I love to talk books!
Hope this helps! Happy reading!!
